Mike Wolfe Shuts Down Antique Archaeology in Nashville After 15 Years

American Pickers star Mike Wolfe, 60, has officially announced the closure of his Nashville antique store, Antique Archaeology, after 15 years of business.

Mike admitted the decision to shut down the shop was incredibly tough, as it has meant “the world” to him.

“I’ve been so proud to be a part of this neighborhood, this city, and this chapter of life,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Friday, April 18.

He revealed that the last day of operation will be Sunday, April 27, and confirmed that he will make an appearance at the store that day.

Why He’s Closing the Store

“Sometimes, even when something is good, you have to pause and ask yourself where your time is going and where your heart is calling you next.”

Mike cited his family — longtime girlfriend Leticia Kleiner and daughter Charlie, 13 — as his main reason for closing shop.

“For me, that’s family. It’s about slowing down a little, staying rooted, and focusing on the new projects that are pulling at my soul.”

Mike added that this isn’t a farewell:

“I’m not disappearing — not even close. I’ll still be picking, sharing, and selling online and at our original LeClaire, Iowa store. But I’ve learned over the years that it’s easy to spread yourself too thin. Balance is something we all chase in one way or another.”

“This isn’t goodbye. It’s just a new rhythm. I’ll forever be grateful for every moment in that Nashville space — and for all of you who made it more than just a shop. You made it home.”

Mike Wolfe to Take a Break From American Pickers

Alongside closing his Nashville store, Mike also announced the show will take a long break for the first time in 15 years.

“We haven’t done that in 15 years, so that’s going to feel good.”
“For 15 years, we’ve just been going and going and going. I think we’re going to have at least four or five months off.”

But don’t worry — during this time off, Mike is set to star on a new History Channel show:
“History’s Greatest Picks.”

Fans React — Praise, Criticism, and Disappointment

Though Mike’s store had a dedicated fan base, recent Google reviews show growing frustration:

  • One fan wrote:

“Huge disappointment. Made a special trip to go there — total waste of time. Very few items for sale, and what was there was overpriced.”

  • Another added:

“They have shot glasses, T-shirts, koozies, and shop towels with their name on it — but not much else.”
“Very few antiques. The ones they do have are super expensive — $1,500 for a small Quaker sign!”

  • A third reviewer shared:

“The Antique Archaeology store left me unimpressed. It’s mostly mass-produced souvenir items with a few antiques on display.”

  • And a fourth said:

“Was expecting an antique store — not an American Pickers gift shop.”

  • Another customer commented:

“Overrated and overpriced. Highly recommend staying away. These are items they found at estate sales, dusted off, and now charge 3x the price.”

Mike Wolfe’s Expanding Business Empire

Despite the closure, Mike Wolfe continues to grow his business empire.
He’s behind Antique Archaeology, several real estate ventures, and his companies:

  • Wolf’s Village

  • MRW Properties

  • Mossy Point Inc.

  • Antique Archaeology Productions
