Bears Bring Back Jaquan Brisker on Team-Friendly Deal
Chicago, IL. The Chicago Bears moved to stabilize their secondary during the 2026 offseason by bringing back a familiar defensive leader after the first wave of free agency.
Chicago entered the offseason with several questions at the safety position, making continuity a priority as the defense prepares for another transition under coordinator Dennis Allen.
Safety Jaquan Brisker agreed to return to Chicago on a team-friendly contract worth approximately $5 million per year, giving the Bears a proven starter at a reasonable cost.
Brisker originally joined the Bears as the 48th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and quickly developed into one of the most physical defenders in the secondary. Known for his aggressive tackling and downhill style of play, he has consistently provided energy and toughness to Chicago’s defense.
The Bears believe Brisker’s presence pairs well with newly added defensive back Coby Bryant. While Bryant brings range and versatility in coverage, Brisker’s physicality helps anchor the run defense and short-area coverage responsibilities.
At just 26 years old, Brisker is entering the prime years of his career, making the contract a potentially valuable move for Chicago as they continue reshaping their defense.
Even with Brisker returning, the Bears are still expected to explore adding depth at the safety position in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft if the right value presents itself.
For now, however, Chicago has secured a key defensive piece who understands the system and continues to embody the hard-hitting identity the team wants to build moving forward.
